AIRLIE BEACH HOTEL AND APARTMENTS
Project Type
RESIDENTIAL | HOSPITALITY | CONCEPT | NEW BUILD
Location
Airlie Beach, QLD
Date
2015-2016
For the proposed hotel project in Airlie Beach, I was tasked with redesigning an existing concept in response to changes in the client’s scope of work and brief. My redesign included a new conference centre, serviced apartments, and separate hotel rooms, all while adhering to the original building footprint, setbacks, and height restrictions.
The project presented several challenges, including the site’s slope, ensuring seamless accessibility to all areas, and providing ocean views from every room. Additionally, I had to incorporate on-site back-of-house services, maintain flexibility for the conference centre, and ensure compliance with required landscape and deep soil areas. I successfully addressed these constraints with a design that balanced functionality, aesthetics, and regulatory requirements.
This work was undertaken as part of my role at Villa and Villa
