EXPERIENCE

ARCHITECT

Villa and Villa / Sydney NSW / Jan 2010 - Dec 2024

Led and contributed to various residential projects, including new builds and alterations and additions:

• Large apartment developments;

• Shop-top housing;

• Mixed-use developments;

• Dual occupancies; and

• Single dwellings.

On larger projects I managed project teams of 2-4 people, using ArchiCAD teamwork capabilities to coordinate design and documentation seamlessly, confirming compliance with the Apartment Design Guide, local LEPs and DCPs, and universal design principles, and efficiently coordinated with consultants at each stage.

On smaller projects, I’ve worked independently, and as part of a team, from the early pre design stages through the concept and on to construction documentation.

As team lead, I’ve successfully achieved DA approvals, including on challenging sites, such as a constrained Harbourside property or within Heritage Conservation Areas, managing client expectations and addressing council requirements. I’ve advised clients on optimal planning pathways, including streamlined Complying Development options, saving them time and costs.

I produced detailed 3D BIM models to communicate design intent clearly at all stages of design, securing client and planning approvals, and demonstrating compliance with the NCC and relevant Australian standards, resulting in robust, accurate documentation at every stage.

I have led and contributed to a wide range of commercial projects:

• Large shopping centre renovations and additions;

• Medium Shopping Centre renovations;

• Retail Masterplanning for a CBD shopping centre;

• Multiple Fast Food renovations and new builds;

• A Winery Cellar Door; and

• A heritage laneway food precincts.

On larger projects I’ve managed teams to develop concept presentations, DA documentation, and tender and construction documentation. I’ve organised and managed the interoperability of our ArchiCAD model with the BIM models of other consultants (IFC and Revit).

I produced comprehensive DA, tender, and construction documentation for D&C contracts, overseeing all phases from initial concept to final construction. This included preparing tenancy contract plans and guidelines, ensuring compliance with access and mobility standards. As part of D&C projects, provided construction documentation post-novation, responded to contractor RFIs, assessed alternative materials, conducted regular site inspections, including defects and rectifications.

I developed and maintained company ArchiCAD templates, standards, libraries and custom objects, significantly enhancing documentation quality and coordination. I put in place standardised compliance documentation and procedures, which streamlined project integration with external consultant teams. I implemented quality assurance processes for documentation review, improving compliance, legibility, and overall reliability.

I’ve supported clients and company directors in defining and refining project briefs, aligning with realistic timelines and budgets, enabling me to prepare detailed fee proposals, scopes of work, and client-architect agreements. I was responsible for project invoicing and implemented Workflow Max to optimise office management and workflow efficiency.
