McDONALDS LAKE HAVEN

For this project I took the clients brief to update an existing McDonald’s to the more modern design, whilst also increasing the visual presence of the building to better compete with other fast food restaurants in the area. I Worked on the initial project set-up, concept and Development Application. The challenge of the site include the existing slopes across the site, accessibility issues, and that what is normally the back of the building is for this restaurant the first part customers see as they approach.

The client wanted to give the impression of increasing the size of the restaurant, without actually increase the GFA, due to existing council and fire limits. The client also wanted a secondary entrance to the restaurant for delivery drivers.I achieved this by incorporating the children’s play area into the main fabric of the building. This required some cleaver calculations for the access ramps.
