SYDENHAM DUAL OCCUPANCY

For this project, I developed a concept design for dual occupancy on a constrained site in Sydenham, responding to the client’s brief to maximise the number of bedrooms and provide off-street parking for both dwellings. The design carefully navigated the DCP and LEP requirements, addressing challenges such as proximity to neighbouring properties and the site’s location under a busy flight path, where noise was a significant consideration.

The design incorporated small private courtyards for each home, offering natural light and attractive outlooks while enabling windows to remain closed for quiet, comfortable internal spaces. This approach balanced the need for privacy, liveability, and compliance with council regulations, resulting in a well-considered solution for a challenging urban site.
