IVY LODGE FARM
Project Type
RESIDENTIAL | CONCEPT | HERITAGE | RENOVATION
Location
East Yorkshire, UK
Date
2016
For a 200-year-old heritage-listed farmhouse in England, I developed a concept to renovate and modernise the property for a young family. The design carefully balanced upgrading the building to contemporary standards while preserving the character and charm that made the home so appealing.
The project faced significant constraints, including the heritage listing and the extensive disrepair left by the previous owners. Initially, the client proposed a complete internal demolition and reconfiguration. However, I successfully demonstrated that by retaining the original layout, we could achieve their goals of creating spacious, modern bathrooms and a functional kitchen while enhancing the unique historic features of the home. This approach not only respected the building’s heritage but also aligned with the family’s vision.
